OSS-Bound Filly Sets Track Record
A filly headed to compete in the Ontario Sires Stakes set a new track record and North American season’s mark on half-mile tracks for three-year-old trotting fillies on Sunday.
Racing at Harrington Raceway, Federal Flex filly Please Okay ($12, Victor Kirby) made a strong charge approaching the final turn and drew clear of her rivals by four lengths in 1:57. Reports from Delaware indicate that Please Okay, co-owned and trained by Kirby, is scheduled to compete in the upcoming Ontario Sires Stakes. Chris Giaccio, Matt Ivory Jr. and Chris Metz share ownership of the winner.
The previous track record was co-held by TP Lucy and Ms Virginia.
In the 13th race, two veteran pacers finished in a dead-heat as 10-year-old Wainui Tabman N and 13-year-old Sharky Osborne could not be separated at the wire for a 1:56.3 co-victory. It was the 60th career win for Sharky Osborne.
Jon Roberts had four winners on the program. Allan Davis had three wins, while George Dennis had a double.
Racing continues at Harrington on a Sunday through Wednesday schedule with the exception of Thursday July 3, which will be the closing night of the spring season.
