Dana Dearest Delivers Again
After a rookie season in which she went 0-for-4, homebred pacer Dana Dearest has taken out a new lease on life to begin her sophomore campaign.
The daughter of Jeremes Jet-Bunny Dearest paced to a 1:53.2 victory in come-from-behind fashion Thursday evening at Mohawk Racetrack, and in doing so she improved her season record to three wins in as many tries.
With Chris Christoforou at the helm, Dana Dearest got away eighth from the eight-hole, and was no better than eighth through early fractions of :27, :55.4 and 1:24. Despite being more than 10 lengths off the lead heading into the final quarter, Dana Dearest fired home in :27.2 while sweeping to the front and drawing clear by a length for the 1:53.2 decision over Regal Luck.
Charalambos Christoforou of Campbellville, Ontario trains, bred and owns the talented lass, who upped her lifetime earnings to $29,228.
