PNG/Cordish Shifting Focus In New York

Reports indicate that the partnership consisting of Penn National Gaming and Cordish Companies has decided to drop out of the running to operate a casino in the Capital Region area of New York State.

An article by timesunion.com states that the partnership has decided to opt out the running to operate a casino in the area because of the amount of the annual payment that would be required to be directed to the Sarasota Springs racino by any new gaming operator in the area.

The report explains that the partnership has moved its focus to the southern end of the state, where it is seeking a gaming licence for a $750-million resort/casino to be located in Orange County, a relatively short distance from New York City.
