Trudel On Win Payoffs, Field Size

Quebec Jockey Club General Manager Vincent Trudel has offered his comments in regard to field sizes and Win payouts at Hippodrome 3R.

Hippodrome 3R has five race cards (and 51 total races) under its belt this season. Currently, the average price for a winning horse at Hippodrome 3R is $12.48. Last year at Hippodrome 3R, the average Win price for the entire meet was $10.65.

“We are very pleased with our win payoff average,” Trudel said via release. “If you can select the winner of the race and on average get a return of $12.48 for a $2 wager, I would think people would really like that. It is currently higher than our meet average last season.

“We are working hard at trying to have full fields for every race,” Trudel explained, “and when we can have as many as 11 horses in a race, the fans enjoy the challenge because they know if they can select the winner the payoffs will be very good. Our winning favourite percentage at 37.3 per cent is not bad considering the average Win price.”

On Tuesday, May 20 at Hippodrome 3R, the last race of the card was contested with 11 horses, going 1-1/16 miles.

is there anything that can be done...good shows, good canadian shows going by the boards leaving rather paltry handles at these places.
