Speed Show In Ladyship Stakes
Two divisions of the Ladyship Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies were contested Tuesday at Pocono Downs, and there was no shortage of speed on display in the $34,712 affairs.
In the first division, Katie Said bounced back from breaking issues in her previous two starts to score with a first-over grind in 1:51:2. Marcus Miller guided the daughter of Well Said-Katies Lucky Lady to the victory for trainer Erv Miller. That Woman Hanover finished second and Table Talk was third.
It was the third win of the season – and the fourth to date – for the career winner of $37,856. She is owned by Andy Miller Stable Inc of Millstone Township and Black Horse Racing of Lebanon, New Jersey.
In the second split, 13-1 shot Fancy Desire made a second move from the pocket and won in a North American season’s record of 1:49:1. George Napolitano, Jr. drove the daughter of Real Desire-Fancy Creek Memory for trainer Kevin Carr. Weeper had her long winning streak snapped while finishing second, while Hunger Games picked up the show dough.
The victory improved her 2014 record to 2-1-1 from five trips to the track, and the lion’s share of the purse lifted her lifetime earnings to $77,256. The five-time winner is owned by Howard Jacobs of West Orange, New Jersey.
