Update: Research Meeting At Woodbine
Equine researchers will be meeting Thursday, May 22 at Woodbine Racetrack to discuss key research projects, which are of interest to the horse racing industry.
The purpose of the presentations is to provide updates and the progress of some of the ongoing research projects.
Some of the topics that will be discussed will include the pros and cons of modern track construction; an update on umbilical cord blood stem cells and their use in the horse; pulmonary artery calcification and potential clinical consequences; and racetime heart rate and sudden death (ECG study).
Speakers will include Dr. Jeff Thomason, Dr. Thomas Koch, Dr. Judith Koenig, Dr. Luis Arroyo and Dr. Peter Physick-Sheard.
The update will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. in Woodbine’s Northern Dancer Room.
Please note that the meeting is to update members of the Woodbine Racetrack backstretch to the status and findings of current research and studies. Organizers with the event have told Trot Insider that they unfortunately do not have the resources to accommodate a broader audience at this time, although the organizers are contemplating a future meeting on the studies, which could be open to a wider audience.
