Can Duc Dorleans Set Another Record?

After setting the all-age track record and the three-year-old track record last season, Duc Dorleans started off the 2014 meet at Hippodrome 3R by setting the track record last Sunday on opening day of the meet for four-year-old pacers.

So what is left for Duc Dorleans track record wise?

Only time will tell...well actually the teletimer in this case.

Last week’s sharp 1:53.1 record over Hippodrome 3R’s lightning fast half-mile oval is proof of how much Duc Dorleans loves racing at Trios-Rivieres as four of his last six weeks have all come at this track. And once again he will be up against five rivals and the teletimer this Sunday at Hippodrome 3R.

The third race is the main event on this Sunday’s 11-race program and there are six pacers entered in the winners over $25,000 (2013) handicap class.

Duc Dorleans starts from post six and will once again be driven by regular reinsman Francis Picard. Last week, the duo teamed up as the wagering favourite and after getting away in third-place made a bold first-over move to collar race leader D Gs Woodstock, look him in the eye and pass him right by, along with the rest of the field, leading by three lengths at the top of the stretch and opened it up to an eight length romp in 1:53.1.

Duc Dorleans' main rival this week could be the newcomer to the field in Dont Rustle Myluck, who starts from post two for driver Jocelyn Gendron. The shipper from Rideau Carleton was a lame scratch in his last start, but prior lines show him a big winner on April 5 in 1:56.

The second choice in the field is Onyx V A from post five for driver Mario Charron. Last week Onyx V A was able to sit in third-place for most of the mile and grab second-place at the end, but still was far back from mounting any challenge to Duc Dorleans.

Rounding out the field are Gutsy Greg (post one), Pieraz (post 3) and D Gs Woodstock (post four).
