Flamboro Preferred To Brocks Fortune
Brocks Fortune won as he pleased, but he was forced to work hard for the money in Sunday’s $7,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred 3 Pace at Flamboro Downs.
With James MacDonald at the controls, Brocks Fortune charged first-over on the way to the mid-way point, and by the time the field reached the three-quarter pole he was on the verge of clearing to the front. He used a :30.1 closing quarter to win by two lengths over Hoboken Hanover in 1:56, with Justa Camillion rounding out the top three finishers.
Sent off as the 3-2 favourite, the Mark Austin-trained four-year-old son of Stonebridge Regal-Fannies Fortune won for the second time this season and for the sixth time in his career. The lion’s share of Sunday’s loot boosted his bankroll to $205,007. The homebred is owned by Mark Austin Stables Inc of Fergus, Noblock Racing Stable of Collingwood and Robert B Chapple of Chatham, Ontario.
