Celias Counsel To Magic Feeling
Racing room was starting to become a growing concern for the pocket-sitting Magic Feeling in Thursday’s final of the Celias Counsel Series, but driver Mike Saftic had everything under control.
His poise and patience in deep stretch helped Magic Feeling secure a narrow victory in the $34,400 affair.
Flexible Woman shot to the lead and hammered out panels of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:27, but she couldn’t last on the lead. Race favourite Tosca came first-over and put up a good fight, but Magic Feeling squeezed between horses in deep stretch and used a :30.1 closing quarter to win by three-quarters of a length over a rallying K D Bella. Third prize went to Tosca.
Trainer Frank O’Reilly co-owns the three-year-old daughter of Kadabra-Dibrizzi with John Fielding of Toronto, Ontario and Isidoro Russo of Montreal, Quebec. The partners watched the filly improve this year’s record to 2-for-2 while pushing her lifetime earnings to $24,700. She paid $7.00.
