Profile On Whelan, SARP Cancellation
Horseman and training centre operator Jim Whelan has been profiled in an article that examines just some of the fallout from the cancellation of the Slots-at-Racetracks program.
The article, by the Flamborough Review, explains that Whelan has seen a drastic impact on his training centre in Troy, Ont.
“We’ve never had less than 35 horses here,” Whelan was quoted as saying. “Now, there’s none in that field, there’s none in that one, we have one in that one and two in this one,” Whelan explained as he pointed to various areas on his property.
The report also features comments from Ontario Horse Racing's John Snobelen, who discusses some of the Ontario Government’s plans for the future of the industry in the province.
