Spunky Jack Tops Dover Trotters

Roger Plante took Walt Callam’s Spunky Jack to the front and stayed there in a 1:56 mile to win for the third time in 10 starts this year. An altered son of Super Punk-My Embrace with four second-place finishes on his 2014 record as well, Spunky Jack lifted his seasonal bankroll to $46,825 and lifetime earnings to $176,371. Guiltywithanexcuse, trained and driven by Daryl Bier in his first local appearance since arriving from Pompano Park, finished second. Enrico AS (Ron Pierce) was locked in before escaping along the passing lane for third. Im So Striking was scratched.
Ideal Revenue has been no worse than third in his last six outings. The Revenue S–New Ideal gelding conditioned by trainer Jim Atkinson posted his third win to go with three seconds and a third in eight 2014 starts for owners Jim and Carol Atkinson. The time of the mile was 1:55 flat. It was one of two wins for George Dennis. Picard (Frank Milby) finished second with Kodak Lindy (Montrell Teague) the third horse.
Boffin continued his ascent with Dennis driving. The four-year-old Donato Hanover-Trance Anthem horse quickly went into the lead and was never headed in a 1:54.3 conquest in a $12,000 conditioned trot. The win was his third in four starts this year for owner Angela Coombs and trainer Kevin Lare. Veteran Green Day (Allan Davis) was next with Mandabra (Frank Milby) third.
Five drivers registered two wins each: Dennis, Ross Wolfenden, Jim Morand, Ron Pierce and Allan Davis.
