Flamboro Preferred To Be Winnin
Be Winnin lived up to her name on Thursday at Flamboro Downs, scoring her first victory of the year in the featured $7,000 Preferred 3 Trot.
Trevor Henry worked out a perfect pocket trip for the four-year-old Angus Hall mare, who is owned and bred by Bob Key of Leechburg, Pennsylvania. Be Winnin eventually brushed by the duelling leaders at the third quarter mark to pull off a mild 6-1 upset in 1:59.1. The Ron Parsons trainee paid $15.90 to win. Aquanilla, another mare in the field, closed for second one length behind while first over challenger Highland Yankee wore down tempo-setter R Rkadabra for third.
Be Winnin now sports five wins on her lifetime record, including last November's Autumn Series Final at Woodbine Racetrack in a career mark of 1:55.4. Her latest outing bumped her bankroll up to $61,658.
James MacDonald won his final four drives on Thursday's 12-race card to lead all reinsmen. Phil Hudon and Bob McClure each had driving doubles.
