Three Straight For Baximum

For the third consecutive start, Tina Clark and Joe Clark’s Baximum came on strongly to win the $20,000 Open Trot/Handicap.

Over a ‘sloppy track’ on Wednesday, March 12 at Dover Downs, Baximum began his usual first-over move after the first half-mile. Daryl Bier ushered the Cantab Hall-Bax Machine veteran up on the outside in mid-backstretch picking up steam to go into the lead approaching the final turn and then waltzed home in a 1:55 mile. Im So Striking (Eddie Dennis), last turning for home, dashed home to finish second with Struttin Conway (Ron Pierce) taking the show payoff.

Baximum, conditioned by Bobby Clark, has assembled a 2014 record of five of seven times in the money and won $34,290 in purses. His career bankroll is $457,014.

After making a misstep last time out, Jailhouse Juice returned to the winning track disposing of eight rivals for a 1:54.4 victory in the semi-feature $15,000 4&5-Year-Old Winners-Over trot. Trainer-driver Toby Lynch got the Jailhouse Jesse-Wine Cup gelding to the top and he stayed there for his third win of the year.

Ideal Revenue (George Dennis) came from far back to edge Six Gun Hall (Allan Davis) for second. Toby and son Jason Lynch own the winner of $27,365 this year and $100,952 lifetime.

Corey Callahan drove three winners; Trace Tetrick, Ron Pierce, Tony Morgan and George Dennis had two wins each.
