Open House At Goshen Sunday

The Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame have announced the details of an open-house family workshop, which will take place this Sunday (March 16).

The museum is encouraging people to join it on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before heading to the Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Children (ages four to 11) will make a lucky horseshoe mascot to bring to the parade, play horsey-themed games and take a ride on the Harness Racing 3D Simulator.

Everyone is invited to enjoy traditional Irish soda bread, tea & hot chocolate.

This is an open-house event; no reservations are necessary – all for only $3 per child, and adults are free. After the workshop, stake out a spot for the parade, which will begin at 2 p.m. For more information about the workshop, please call 845-294-6330.

Children will create their own parade mascot to carry and shake while watching the parade pass by the museum. When making their Lucky Horseshoe Standardbred mascot, be sure to glue on horseshoes open side up to hold in the good luck! Staff will then lead kids through a series of fun games throughout the museum.

‘Seamus McGee,’ the museum’s Irish Standardbred mascot, will make an appearance, so bring your camera and take pictures with the kids. Cross the finish line with an exciting ride on the Harness Racing 3D Simulator, a must for all families to enjoy!

All paid participants may enter a drawing to win a prize. Before leaving, visit the museum gift shop for a wide selection of horse-related items and take advantage of an added bonus of 20% off of any green item in the shop. You may even find yourself something green to wear at the parade!
