Stonebridge Galaxy, a seven-year-old bay son of Apaches Fame retires after participating in 147 pari-mutuel events and compiling a slate reading 29 wins, 21 second and 10 thirds. Having taken his mark in 1:49.2 over Mohawk Racetrack, Stonebridge Galaxy calls it quits with $728,166 in career purses.
Having won Open and Preferred events on the WEG circuit, Stonebridge Galaxy will bring his presence to the Western Canadian breeding industry, according to Zeron.
"He had some complications with a knee. I thought the best thing was to retire him and stand him at stud," Zeron told Trot Insider, explaining that Stonebridge Galaxy will be standing at Lancaster Stables in Langley, BC.
Zeron told Trot Insider that when he and Mark MacDonald went out west to participate in BC Breeders Classic Day he had discussed the idea with life-long friend Rick Lancaster.
"We're very excited to be welcoming Stonebridge Galaxy to Lancaster Stable," Lancaster told Trot Insider. "He was great on a half-mile track as a youngster and was a hard-knocking older horse on the top circuit in Canada.
"We can hardly wait until he arrives. We've already had a lot of interest in him just from a slight bit of word of mouth."
Stonebridge Galaxy will stand for a fee of $1,000. The Lancaster Stable currently has a host of broodmares and is standing Seven Seas Cruiser.
"He doesn't owe me anything," Zeron told Trot Insider. "He was a great acquisition to my stable and it is great to see that he is going to spend his retirement at such a great farm."
