More Calls For A Meadowlands Casino
Former New Jersey Governor Richard Codey has offered some very strong comments in regard to bringing slot-machine gaming to the Meadowlands.
“Forget all this online slots, online lottery and all that — let’s just put slot machines in at the Meadowlands and get it over with,” the state Senator was quoted as saying in a recent article by The Bergen Record.
Senator Codey went on to say, “We need to stop trying to put Band-Aids on a gunshot wound to the head. Let’s accept the fact that Atlantic City’s problem is ‘location, location, location’ and move on from that.”
State Senator Paul Sarlo echoed Sen. Codey’s sentiments in the report, saying, “The only way to maximize gambling revenues in the state is to have a high-class casino in the Meadowlands.”
Assemblyman Ralph Caputo joined the call, saying, “We can’t bury our heads in the sand and say Atlantic City is going to be fine. Atlantic City is not going to be fine, as it formerly existed. It’s not going to come back to its original glory.”
