Rays San Prevails In Preferred
Rays San failed to hit the board in his last three assignments in the Preferred 2 for pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District, but he was solid gold in Monday’s edition of the class.
With Trevor Henry at the helm, Rays San shot to the front from Post 1 and never looked back through panels of :28, :58.1 and 1:27.2. His :29.3 closing speed was enough to earn him the 1:57 decision by three-quarters of a length over race favourite Thats The Life. Third went to Stoney Durkin.
Richard Moreau trains the six-year-old son of The Panderosa-Santastic for Gaston Bibeau and Sylvain Descheneaux of Sorel-Tracy, Quebec. The 15-time winner now boasts a 2-1-1 record from seven trips to the track this season. He’s banked more than $164,000 to date.
Sonny Vale broke through for his first win of the season thanks to his 2:00.2 triumph in the $7,000 Preferred 3 for trotters. The 10-year-old son of Village Barrister-Sunshine Coast enjoyed a two-hole for the majority of the mile before shaking loose in the lane and drawing clear to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 2:00.2. Thunderaway was next best, with Rainbow Gold taking home the show dough.
Sent off as the 2-1 choice, Sonny Vale won for the 20th time in his career for owner Patricia Duncan and Colleen Belore of Embro, Ontario. The Paul Smith trainee has banked just shy of $200,000 in his career.
