Gifting A Roll Up The Rim Win
A quick stop at a local coffee shop on the way into the barn early in the morning is pretty routine for many Canadian harness racing horsemen and women.
With Tim Hortons' popular coffee contest underway, trainers and drivers discuss Roll Up The Rim to Win etiquette in week's Standardbred Canada video feature.
According to a Tim Hortons' "RRRoll Up the Rim to Win Etiquette Poll" conducted in 2013, 65% of Canadians said they would keep the Toyota RAV4 offered in last year's contest if treated to the winning coffee by a friend. Of those new car owners, 73% said they would offer a special gift in return to the coffee purchaser.
The poll also found that nearly 60% of Canadians would share the monetary prizes with their friend while coffee and donuts were the prizes most likely to be gifted back to the purchaser (33% and 32%).
To help ease those awkward moments between friends, Tim Hortons has introduced a fun and friendly Pre-Cup agreement with this year's contest, which runs until April 25 or until cup supplies last. Prizes for 2014 include the Toyota Corolla Sport, $5,000 Visa prepaid cards, $100 Tim cards, as well as food and beverages.
If you gave a friend a Roll Up The Rim coffee and the cup won a major prize, what would you expect your friend to do with the prize?
