Trainer, 37, Succumbs To Injuries
It has been reported that a 37-year-old British Columbia trainer passed away last week from injuries suffered in a training accident at a farm in Langley.
The news comes courtesy of a report by The Province which states that Melanie Walters, a single mother described as a rising star at Hastings Racecourse, passed away.
The article does not contain many details, but does state that in 2013, which was Walters’ first full year as a trainer, she won 15 races, which placed her among the top 10 in the final standings.
A trust fund has been set up for Walters’ children – son, Caden, 7, and daughter, Laurel, 8. Click here to view the online fund.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Melanie Walters.
