Storm Forces Thursday Cancellations
A quartet of tracks in the U.S. have cancelled live harness racing cards as a result of severe weather conditions.
As of 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Freehold Raceway, Meadowlands Racetrack, Monticello Raceway and Yonkers Raceway have pulled the plug on live racing cards scheduled for Thursday.
Conditions permitting, live racing will resume on Friday at Freehold Raceway with first-race post time set for 12:30 p.m.
Please make note that the entire racing card slated for the Meadowlands Racetrack, including the first round of Charles Singer Memorial, will be carried over to next Thursday (February 20). Therefore, if your horse was entered to race tonight at the Meadowlands, he or she is now in to go at the Meadowlands Thursday, February 20.
With the cancellation, the first round of the Charles Singer Memorial trotting series will be pushed back to Thursday, February 20. The second round will now take place on Thursday, February 27 with the final on Saturday, March 8.
In addition, both the Meadowlands and Winners Bayonne are closed for simulcasting today as well. At present, both facilities are scheduled to re-open Friday at 11:00 a.m., with live racing at the Meadowlands scheduled to resume on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
Live racing is scheduled to return to Monticello Raceway on Monday, February 17 at 12:25 p.m.
Yonkers Raceway’s next program is scheduled for Friday, February 14 beginning at 7:10 p.m. Horsemen are advised that there is no draw tomorrow (Wednesday) at Yonkers Raceway. A double-draw for Tuesday and Thursday (Feb. 18 and 20) shall be conducted Friday (Feb. 14), with the entry box closing at 4 p.m. For more information, please contact the race office at 914-457-2627.
Officials from Dover Downs have stated that the track will proceed with its scheduled race card for Thursday, Feb. 13. First-race post time is 4:30 p.m.
