Jeremes Sweetheart 'Jogs' In Open
Jeremes Sweetheart captured the $20,000 Mares Open Pace for the second straight week thanks to a 1:52.1 victory in Monday’s main event at Dover Downs.
Last week, Jeremes Sweetheart scored a nose-victory but this time the Jeremes Jet-Fox Valley Evanna five-year-old was more impressive. Ron Pierce left fast from the outside and quickly took the lead. From there, she faced only a determined bid from Alexachase (Bret Brittingham) from the half until reaching the stretch before moving away to a convincing triumph. Tim Tetrick hustled On The Cusp along the passing lane to finish second ending her two-race winning streak. Paradise Lost and Ross Wolfenden came on to finish third.
Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta own the Eric Ell-conditioned distaffer who now has won $29,120 in 2014 and $293,512 lifetime.
Ross Wolfenden enjoyed a Grand Slam on Monday’s card, and it moved him into second-place in the Dover Downs’ standings with 78 wins - two more than Allan Davis’ 76. Corey Callahan, who leads all winning drivers in 2014, tops the Dover Downs’ meet with 154 wins.
