'Dancin' Delivers In Dover Preferred
After celebrating consecutive victories, Dancin Yankee moved into Thursday’s $30,000 Preferred at Dover Downs and secured another win.
Overlooked in the betting despite two straight impressive victories, Dancin Yankee, driven by Chris Page, blew past the leaders in the stretch to record a 1:51.1 triumph in the Dover’s top-purse race of the week. Second-place Texican N led in the stretch for Ross Wolfenden with Special Forces, third, reined by Corey Callahan. Nova Artist (Allan Davis) led early and tired in the stretch.
The six-year-old son of Yankee Cruiser-Dancewiththebest gave trainer Josh Green his second win on the program. Owned by Bob Briley, Rich Lombardo and Baron Racing, it was Dancin Yankee’s 27th lifetime win and it brought his career earnings to $614,822.
Corey Callahan and Full Of Sand enjoyed a perfect two-hole trip following All Stienam (Chris Page) until mid-stretch before rolling up to score a 1:51.2 decision in the $28,500 Delaware Special. Trish Foulk conditions the Full Of Fun-Soft Towel gelding for Brit Evans and Foulk Stables. People Are Crazy (Vic Kirby) came on for third.
Meet leader Callahan led all drivers with four wins, while trainer Dylan Davis had three wins.
