Pinner To Headline Red Shores Feature
A power-packed field of pacers will headline Saturday's top-class feature at Red Shores' Charlottetown Driving Park.
First-race post time for the 13-dash card is slated for 1 p.m.
The race is named in honour of longtime Red Shores’ employee Irene MacInnis. A memorial cooler will be presented to the winner by members of MacInnis' family, friends and co-workers.
Pinner will attempt to get back in the win column after his amazing winning streak was halted at eight in a row. Marc Campbell is back in the bike for trainer Brian Ladner. The pacer goes up against last week’s feature winner Nobestbfor (to be driven by Walter Cheverie) and Cambest Kisser (Jason Hughes) who put an end to Pinner’s streak. Miracle Matts is a serious threat off the rail for driver Corey MacPherson and PC Shockwave is also a major contender from Post 4 for driver Brian MacPhee and owner Scott MacPhail.
MacPhee also has a live drive on Zip The Lip in the Open Trot in Race 4. The trotter is co-owned by trainer Don Sweet and Orville Willis.
The field is full of talent including rail sitter Honeymoonisover, Sandhill Angel, Abundaspin, Buckling Banbury, Caliban Hanover and Wonderous Hanover.
Every Day, owned by Bill and Rachel Andrew, moves up to tackle the back-up class in Race 7. The pacer has back-to-back wins for driver Brian Andrew.
The fans’ choice awards will also be presented after Race 3 on the program.
The final live race program of the season is Friday February 7 with a 6 p.m. first-race post time. The card celebrates the 25th edition of the O’Brien Awards coming to Charlottetown on Saturday February 8 at the Delta Prince Edward and PEI Convention Centre.
