SC Taking Over ASHA Staking
The Alberta Standardbred Horse Association has announced that Standardbred Canada is taking over
the procedure for payments to the 2009 ASHA Sires Stakes, Open stakes and owned/sired/foaled events.
The deadline for payment is April 15, 2009. A detailed stallion directory and stakes guide provided by ASHA (not Standardbred Canada) will be published in February.
While the stakes schedule is currently available by clicking here, the procedure is changing for making sustaining & nomination payments and supplemental fees. ASHA will no longer collect sustaining payments for the Alberta Sire Stakes program and Northlands is no longer administering open or track stakes or collecting any stake payments. All stake monies held by Northlands are being refunded to individuals that paid into the program.
The New Procedure
Standardbred Canada will administer the Alberta Sires Stakes, open stakes, and the owned/sired/foaled events.
Each of the three below-listed points become effective in 2009:
• Standardbred Canada shall administer the remaining stake payments for the Alberta Sires Stakes (foals of 2005, 2006 and 2007).
• Standardbred Canada shall administer the Open events: Wild Rose Pace, Emerald Filly, Adios Pick, Horizon Pace, Western Filly Pace and Western Pace.
• Standardbred Canada shall administer the Alberta sired/owned/foaled events: Premier’s Filly, Premier’s Colt, Brad Gunn and ASHA Breeders.
Standardbred Canada will be providing the following standardbred staking services:
• Standardbred Canada will advertise stake payment details in the TROT Magazine approximately one month prior to payment date.
• Standardbred Canada will inform members of stake payment details on the SC website.
• Approximately three weeks prior to payment date, Standardbred Canada will print and mail computer-generated nomination and sustaining forms, specific for each horse that is eligible to the Alberta Sires Stakes, Open and Alberta owned/sired/foaled events. Separate forms will be printed for yearlings to be nominated to the Alberta Sires Stakes (Mailed to the first owner of record for each horse eligible to make the payments; a generic payment form will be available on the SC website for member access).
Fees & Deadlines
2009 Alberta Sire Stakes nomination fees remain the same: $10 for yearlings, $50 for two year olds, $50 for three year olds, and $50 four year olds. Due date: April 15.
All fees must be received by April 15. For payments that arrive after April 15, the post office postmark must be on the envelope to show that it was mailed prior to midnight of the date due. Cash, cheque and money orders are accepted.
Declaration fees are due with the race secretary at the time of entry. Supplemental fees are due with the race secretary at time of entry.
All cheques must be made payable to Standardbred Canada. Please send cheques to:
