Tioga Downs Sees Revenue Slip
It has been reported that in 2013 Tioga Downs made less money than it did in 2012 – the first instance that the racino in Nichols, New York did not improve since it opened in 2006. The occurrence has spurred Jeff Gural to say that the introduction of a proposed new casino in Broome County would strain both business ventures.
An article by the Star-Gazette has quoted Gural as saying, “I guarantee you that it is 100 per cent impossible for a casino in Broome County and a racino in Tioga County to succeed.”
Gural went on to say, “Neither one will succeed. They both will struggle, and they’ll both just compete with each other for the same customers.”
The report states that last week that Broome County Legislature’s Administration Committee passed a resolution via a 5-0 vote in favour of new a casino in the county.
The article goes on to state that the Broome County Legislature is scheduled to vote on the resolution this Thursday (January 23).
