Battleshoe Victor Battles The Elements
Mother Nature was not very kind in South Florida once again as the skies opened up with rain on Monday night at the Isle Pompano Park, but it did not stop Battleshoe Victor and driver Anthony Napolitano from being victorious in the $16,000 Open Trot on a sloppy track.
Keystone Empire (Kevin Wallis) got the first call with Hellava Hush (Richard Simard) and Battleshoe Victor also rushing off the gate. Battleshoe Victor took full advantage of Hellava Hush making a break to take over the lead in the early stages.
Napolitano and Battleshoe Victor remained on top for the entire mile, tripping the teletimer in fractions of :28.3, :58.3 and 1:27 en route to a two and a half-length win over Karpathos (Wally Hennessey) in 1:56.4, with Table Wine (Dan Clements) finishing third.
It was the second win of the year for the seven-year-old Valley Victor gelding, who has earnings of more than $285,000 for trainer Tom Harmer and owner Michael Polansky.
