An action-packed Monday afternoon card of racing at Western Fair Raceway was highlighted by a $18,400 Preferred Trot and Pace, a $15,200 Mares Preferred Pace and a $12,800 Preferred-2 Pace.

Stonebridge Diablo returned to London’s half-mile oval after a successful trip to Woodbine and doubled up in the Preferred Trot. Handled by Ross Battin, the seven-year-old Angus Hall gelding set all the fractions, cutting splits of :29.3, 1:01.2 and 1:31.2 before tripping the teletimer in 2:01.2.

Random Arrival (Stuart Sowerby) was given the two-hole ride, but could not capitalize, finishing a length and a half back in second, with Grogan (Lorne House) in third.

Ron Waples, Jr. trains and co-owns Stonebridge Diablo with partners Randy Waples, Dr. Shelia Atmore and Alan Kirschenbaum. ‘Diablo’ is 2-0-1 in three starts early this season and boosted his lifetime bankroll to $550,711.

XLB Patrick endured a tough first-over journey to prevail in the Preferred Pace. Starting from the trailing Post 8, driver Doug McNair had the nine-year-old Davids Pass gelding sitting third at the :29.4 quarter. XLB Patrick moved to the outside to challenge Oakley Seelster (Bruce Richardson) and those two pacers engaged in a fierce battle through splits of 1:00.3 and 1:29 before ‘Patrick’ got his nose to the line first in 1:58.1.

Along Came Polly (Mike Langdon) rode in the pocket and was only a head back in third.

Mark Austin does the training of XLB Patrick for owner Michael Cecile. It was the 53rd lifetime win for the accomplished pacer, who boasts earnings of $576,131.

Call Me Yours won in her debut for trainer Steve Coulter to take the Mares Preferred Pace. Owner/breeder and previous trainer Steve Gillard moved the four-year-old Your Nemesis mare to Coulter following her last start. After settling into third at the :28.2 quarter, driver Ross Battin moved Call Me Yours to the front and they never looked back, setting panels of :59 and 1:27.3 en route to a two-length score in 1:57.3.

A Fiesty Affair (Brad Forward) raced first-over and got second while Dangerous Years (Don McElroy) completed the top three.

Call Me Yours now has 10 lifetime wins and earnings of $152,280.

Front Nine lit up the toteboard in the Preferred-2 Pace for the Carroll family. Let go at nearly 45-1, the eight-year-old Northern Luck stud swept from sixth at the top of the lane and paced home in :28.4 to post a neck triumph in 1:57. Tymal Cameron (Mike Sumner) was second and Best By Far (Kerry Brown) finished third.

Alfie Carroll did the driving for trainer Richard Carroll and owner Mary Carroll. It was the first win in three 2009 starts for Front Nine, who pushed his career tally to $250,409.
