Clifton Gardiner Passes

On Saturday, Jan. 11, breeder/owner/trainer Clifton Joseph Gardiner, 70, of Degros Marsh, Prince Edward Island passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after a year-long battle with esophageal cancer.

Much-loved husband and best friend of Betty (nee Dingwell). Loving father of Melodie Dewar (Chris) and Becky Peters (Brad); loving stepfather of Amanda Burke (Thomas), Angela Murrin (Terry), Aaron Higgins (Lindsay); grandfather of Gwenyth, Isabel, Avalon, Carlee, Addison, Eveada. Survived by brothers and sisters, Robert (Diane), Yvonne Bassman, Phyllis (Fred) Theriault, Norma Jean Leicher, Geraldine (Johnny) Cameron, Carol (Larry) Companion, Donna (Carl) MacDonald, Darlene Gardiner and Noreen (George) MacPherson; sister-in-law, Joanne Gardiner; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by parents, Joseph and Marguerite (nee MacDonald) Gardiner; infant sister, Marion Gardiner; sister, Anna-Mae; brother, Keith Gardiner; brothers-in-law, Lou Leicher, Wendell MacDonald, Cy Bassman, Tom Baxter.

Visitation took place Monday and a funeral mass took place on Tuesday, January 14 at St. Georges Catholic Church. Interment to take place in the summer.

Donations to Unit 2 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital or Kings County Memorial Hospital, Montague would be appreciated by the family.
