Unsafe track conditions have forced multiple tracks to cancel scheduled cards of harness racing for Saturday night.
After consultation with the horsemen's representatives, Flamboro Downs has cancelled their live card for today, due to unsafe track conditions.
Flamboro is next slated to race on Sunday, January 12.
Due to unsafe track conditions as a result of mild temperatures tonight's race card at Woodbine Racetrack has been cancelled. Racing resumes Monday night.
Woodbine Racetrack had planned for customers and fans to meet WEG drivers Jody Jamieson, Anthony MacDonald, Sylvain Filion, Billy Davis, Jr and James MacDonald before the races, but that opportunity will now be postponed until next Saturday, January 18 at 6 p.m. on the second floor of the Woodbine grandstand.
Buffalo Raceway has been forced to cancel yet again. This time the race card scheduled for Saturday, January 11 has been called off. With temperatures in Western New York approaching 50 degrees Fahrenheit causing snow melt and rain the track has become unsafe for horsemen and horses.
The 2014 racing season at the Hamburg Oval will now get underway Wednesday, January 15 with a first post of 5:00pm. In addition to a $5,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 pool, Opening Night promotions including free programs and free schedule magnets will be available. Inside Track members will be able to redeem their coupons for their Hockey Puck giveaway as well.
Freehold Raceway also cancelled its Saturday card due to poor track conditions.
