Kennedy In As NSPE Board Chairman
It has been reported that longtime horseman and Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Board member Bruce Kennedy has taken over as chairman of the NSPE.
An article by The Chronicle Herald states that Kennedy was once president of the old commission.
The news comes as a report by the Truro Daily News has stated that Raymond Tynes will be acting general manager until a more permanent hiring process takes place.
The The Chronicle Herald report has also cited Kennedy as saying that the exhibition’s announced debt of $1 million has been whittled down to roughly $800,000. The Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition operates live racing at Truro Raceway.
Kennedy was quoted as saying that it will take a team effort in order for the provincial exhibition to thrive.
“We haven’t been keeping up. So now it’s time to keep up, and it takes a lot,” he said. “This is not a facility that’s run by the board or run by a few people. It takes a whole community. There are a lot of activities over here, and a lot more could be over here. This is for the whole county, and it has a lot of room to improve.”
