OSS Graduate Wins In Return To Dover
San Fran Lady N and Ontario-sired BJs Sweetheart, both clocked in 1:53.3, won the $15,000 Filly and Mare Winners Over split divisions on Monday, Dec. 30 at Dover Downs.
With no live racing on New Year’s Eve day, San Fran Lady N and BJs Sweetheart closed out the 2013 portion of the six-month long meet, in diverse styles.
Owner-trainer Peter Tritton’s recent import, San Fran Lady N and Tony Morgan took no prisoners en route to her first U.S. victory, in her fourth local start overwhelming a field reduced to five starters with a convincing :27.4 final panel. Timmylynn came on for Montrell Teague to finish second in front of Mystra and Chris Page. Including her earnings in the states, San Fran Lady N, a seven-year-old daughter of former American-breds Live Or Live and Emcill, has won 19 races and $130,350 lifetime.
In the other $15,000 division, Ontario Sires Stakes Gold champion BJs Sweetheart, driven by George Dennis, had just enough to hold off a fast finishing Beechwood Diana, with Ross Wolfenden driving, and the Teague-driven Lloyds Lady. Trainer Jason and Susan Skinner own the sophomore filly by No Pan Intended out of Artrisma, who is now a five-time winner this year with earnings of $92,663.
Corey Callahan, recently voted U.S. Harness Writers Association’s Rising Star Award winner, drove four winners. George Dennis and Eddie Davis Jr. had doubles.
