Henry Wins Five At Western Fair
With a solid lead in the Canadian driver standings as the 2013 racing season nears the finish line, driver Trevor Henry is not slowing down.
The Arthur, Ont. reinsman dominated Friday's harness racing card winning five of the evening's 12 races.
Henry was a winner right out of the starting gate, taking the opener with sophomore trotting filly Blush And Crush ($3.80), who was making her first start from the stable of Canada's leading trainer Richard Moreau. Henry then went on to win every other race through the first nine. Among his winners, freshman pacer Decroft Mr Fame ($5.40) broke his maiden in his second start for conditioner Paul Taylor. Henry also scored with Randy Marriage's five-year-old pacer Arnies Kick Start ($3.20) and John Holding's three-year-old trotting filly Hunter Valley ($8.60). Sophomore pacer J Jetstar ($5.70) was a repeat winner for Victor Puddy and completed Henry's five-bagger.
Henry has dominated the driver standings at Western Fair all season long, winning 278 races at the London, Ont. oval. He boasts more than double the wins of his nearest rival, Alfie Carroll, who sits second on the local leaderboard with 110 victories.
Henry also tops the charts nation-wide with a total of 518 victories on the year. Billy Davis Jr. trails 93 wins behind in second with 425.
