Simulcast Players Discuss New ‘Big M’
The new Meadowlands Racetrack has been a fixture in harness racing headlines for months now. The modern facility held its first card of live pari-mutuel wagering last month. Now, a report by a local publication has queried the raceway’s elder simulcasting guard for their opinion on the updated ‘Big M.’
As report by Stephanie Akin of The Bergen Record explains, the Meadowlands’ loyal simulcast players may have notices the snazzy surroundings in the new Meadowlands facility, but their focus is still on the beamed-in product.
“It serves the purpose,” simulcast player Artie Russo said about the new facility. “We’re here to bet on horses. That’s all.”
While Meadowlands figurehead Jeff Gural is more than pleased to offer a fantastic simulcasting experience to his loyal customers, he states that getting new blood in the door is also crucial to the future of the track.
“Certainly these are important customers,” Gural said in regard to his loyal simulcast patrons. “But we’re trying to attract a different customer.”
