Henry Clicks For Six At Flamboro
In case any of you were wondering why Trevor Henry is the leading dash-winning reinsman Canada this season, he doled out a friendly reminder Thursday evening at Flamboro Downs with a six-win performance.
The Arthur, Ontario-based Henry swept the Daily Double thanks to wins with Jimmys Secret (1:56.3) and Eat Pray Trot (2:01.2) before going back-to-back in Race 4 and Race 5 with Heres The Magic (1:59.2) and Fortune Fella (1:57.3). Henry capped off his dominant night by taking Race 9 with Panedictine (1:59.4) and Race 10 with General Simba (1:58).
After putting up career-best numbers for wins (533) and earnings ($3,433,101) in 2012, Henry has managed to nab a nation-leading 472 wins and purse earnings in excess of $2.3 million this season.
One of the few races Henry didn’t win was the Preferred 2 for trotters. The $10,000 tilt went to P L Daley and driver Nick ‘Gilbert Gottfried’ Steward in 1:58.4. Steward hustled the six-year-old son of Kadabra-Broadway Gal to the lead from Post 1, and the gelding successfully chopped out panels of :28.4, :58.4 and 1:28 before using a :30.4 closing quarter to seal the deal by a length over Spartan Victory. Taking home the show dough was Long Ago.
Anthony Montini trains P L Daley for Albina Montini of Acton and Mac Nichol of Burlington, Ontario. It was the sixth win of the season – and the 14th to date – for the career winner of $201,945.
