Puddy Trainees Perfect At Flamboro
Flamboro Downs' leading trainer Victor Puddy went three-for-three at the Dundas, Ont. oval on Saturday afternoon to make 2013 his winningest season to date.
Teaming up with the nation's leading dash-winner driver Trevor Henry, Puddy earned his first victory of the day in the fourth race with Keith Cassell's four-year-old pacing gelding Perfect Escape ($5.50). Puddy later went back-to-back in the eighth and ninth races scoring with his own nine-year-old pacing gelding A Sudden Twist ($7) and Macy Cassell's five-year-old trotting mare Final Straw ($5.70). A Sudden Twist's 1:55 victory was his fastest of 15 this year.
Puddy currently tops the local leaderboard with 42 wins at Flamboro Downs this year. He holds a nine-win lead over Richard Moreau, who also teamed with Henry for one victory on the 12-race card.
Puddy is in the midst of a career year having now sent out 121 winners from his stable for $874,430 in earnings. Prior to this year, the Mountain, Ont. horseman had posted a personal best 119 wins in 2003. Nation-wide, Puddy ranks second behind Moreau, who has won 262 races this season.
Puddy will look to add to his win totals as he sends out four starters tonight at Woodbine Racetrack.
