Debate About New Hampshire Gaming
More than 60 businesspeople debated the topic of expanded gambling in New Hampshire yesterday, as legislators and lobbyists from both sides of a bill that would allow slot machines in the state voiced their opinions on the contentious topic.
According to an article on concordmonitor.com, senator Lou D'Allesandro said that expanded gambling in the state would prove to be an "economic recovery job creation package without any federal money, without any state money, but with private enterprise doing the job."
On the latter side of issue, former state representative Michael Marsh said legalized gambling would wreak havoc on the state's quality of life by measures ranging from crime to education to the divorce rate. "What's going to happen is we're going to become more like Nevada," he said.

Millennium Gaming recently announced that it wanted to bring a racino to Rockingham Park, and that it would be willing to invest $450 million in the facility.
