Dr. Roberts Passes

Dr. Lawrence Jobe ‘Larry’ Roberts, 70, passed away on Wednesday, November 6. A graveside funeral service was held, Friday, November 8 at Pinewood Memorial Park.

Dr. Roberts, a native of Pitt County, attended Veterinary school at the University of Georgia prior to returning to North Carolina to practice veterinary medicine. He started an animal clinic in eastern North Carolina, and eventually specialized in equine medicine.

Dr. Roberts followed in the family footsteps and working with horses was his passion and his gift. Dr. Roberts was well respected in the Maryland standardbred industry. He spent many meets working with the horses at both Rosecroft Raceway and Freestate Raceway.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Jobe Roberts Jr.; mother, Garnet Boyd Roberts; and a sister, Sandra Marie Eason.

He is survived by daughters, Bedie Roberts Kohake and husband, Ronald of Winterville and Laura Andre´ Roberts of Greenville; grandchildren, Virginia and Julia Kohake of Winterville and Morgan and David Warren of Greenville; sisters, Patsy Roberts Parker and husband, Linwood, of Four Oaks and Penny Roberts Jenkins and husband, Jesse, of Greenville; brother, William Boyd Roberts and wife, Sharon, of Brandywine, Md.; brother-in-law, Bobby Eason of Emerald Isle; five nieces and three nephews.
