Officials with the Alberta Standardbred Horse Association have announced the details surrounding As Promised Day, which will honour the late-great stallion that was the keystone sire in the province of Alberta.

As Promised, who passed away this summer, has had 782 of his 1,297 progeny make it to the races. One hundred and three of those offspring are winners of more than $100,000 in their careers. In total, As Promised’s progeny has banked just under $35.8-million in purses.

On Saturday, November 16, both As Promised’s life and top progeny will be honoured at Northlands Park, which will be playing host to As Promised Day. First-race post time for the program of live racing will be 6:00 p.m.

Some of As Promised’s top progeny – Weekend Bernie, Dudes Leaving Town, River Lass and Skip To My Mjjz – will be in attendance. Each of the aforementioned horses will take part in a meet and greet; be available for a photo session; have a race named in their honour; and lead the post parade for their respective dash. There will also be blanket presentations to the winners of these races.

Keith Clark will be taking part in an autograph session Saturday at Northlands, and As Promised drink specials and retro food specials will also be offered.

Officials with ASHA have also stated that prizes and draws will take place for Autographed 8 x 10 framed pictures of As Promised and the day’s four guest horses.
