Bee A Magician To Balmoral
Not only is the top three-year-old pacing filly headed to Balmoral Park this weekend, the top three-year-old trotting filly -- and the horse ranked as the top Standardbred in North America -- will be heading there as well.
Ottawa's Melvin Hartman, one of the owners of Bee A Magician, has stated that the undefeated daughter of Kadabra will be supplemented to this Saturday's American National.
"We needed to give her another start before her final start of the year, and I think it's a good fit for her," Hartman told Bob 'Hollywood' Heyden at the Black Book Sale in Harrisburg, Pa.
The connections will pay a $10,000 supplemental entry fee plus the $2,000 starting fee to race Bee A Magician in Saturday's American National, now with an estimated purse of $125,000.
Bee A Magician's last start of the year is expected to come at The Meadowlands on November 30 in the Moni Maker.
Owned by Hartman along with Floridians Herb Liverman and David Mc Duffee, Bee A Magician (Kadabra - Beehive) is unblemished with a spotless 15-for-15 record in 2013, her most recent victory an unstressed four-plus length win in the Breeders Crown Final at Mohegan Sun Pocono.
Regular driver Brian Sears will be in town to drive Bee A Magician for trainer Richard 'Nifty' Norman. With more than $2.1 million earned in her career, Bee A Magician is the first trotting filly in harness racing history to surpass $2 million in lifetime earnings at age three.
