Cheyenne Miriam Wins Matron Prep
Cheyenne Miriam tuned up for Sunday’s Matron Stake coming on to edge race favourite Monochromatic in Monday’s $20,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap at Dover Downs.
Hall of Famer-elect David Miller pulled out of fifth place on the backstretch with Cheyenne Miriam to quickly engage Monochromatic on the final turn then battled head-to-head down the lane in a :28-second final panel before sticking her nose out front for a 1:52.2 victory. It was the three-year-old Bettors Delight-Alibecca filly’s 11th win this year. Jeremes Sweetheart, handled by Ross Wolfenden was third.
Leased by The Cheyenne Gang and trained by Robbie Siegelman, the prominent New York Sire Stakes winning sophomore has now banked $289,005 this campaign. Cheyenne Miriam returns to the track this Sunday racing in a Matron elimination.
