Blake Seelster Passes

Trot Insider has learned that 29-year-old gelding Blake Seelster, a winner of 73 career races, passed away on Monday, November 4.

Blake Seelster, a son of Armbro Splurge out of the Scarlet Wave mare Burnsie, faced the gate 349 times in his career. In addition to his 73 wins, the bay also recorded 51 second-place finishes and 39 thirds.

Blake Seelster took his mark of 1:56.3 over the five-eighths mile oval at Sarnia’s Hiawatha Horse Park at the age of six. He earned $94,621 in purses in his racing career.

Trot Insider has learned that Blake Seelster was humanely euthanized Monday morning after having suffered from issues related to old age.

Disappointing news. However, to have lived such a long life, after hanging up his harness bag for the last time, is most deserving.
