Lucky Man Leaves No Doubt In Willowdale Series Final
Lucky Man was anything but lucky as he thoroughly dominated the $60,000 Willowdale Pacing Series Final on Saturday night at Woodbine Racetrack in a clocking of 1:51.4
.
The four-year-old son of Camluck - Under Her Spell was able to score despite parking through much of the first quarter for driver Randy Waples in a strong :26.4.
The top pair then led the field past the half in :55.2. with Real Nice (Chris Christoforou) sitting in second in front of P H Bestman (Scott Zeron) and The Admiral (Brad Kramer) making the first move out from fourth.
Waples asked Lucky Man for his best in the third quarter and he responded by opening up a clear lead at the third panel in 1:23.1. Real Nice was doing everything he could to try and keep up in second spot with The Admiral stalling in his first-over challenge.
In the stretch, no one was able to get close to the pacesetter who had plenty left in the tank for an easy score. The Admiral dug deep to edge out Real Nice for the place spot with Anderlecht (Mike Saftic) rallying to pick up fourth.
It was the second win in four tries this season for the Casie Coleman trainee and improved his bankroll to just over $316,000 for owner Tom Hill of Lancashire, Great Britain.
In other pacing action, Ramegade Bruiser managed to score his fifth straight win in the $50,000 Open tonight at Woodbine when he held on by a head to win in 1:52 flat.
The six-year-old son of Rambaran and driver Chris Christoforou pulled ahead of Kindly Poet (Randy Waples) before the first quarter in :27.2. Ramegade Bruiser led the field past the half in :56 and three-quarters in 1:23.4, then held off a quick-closing Secrets Nephew (Lyle MacArthur) for victory. Mattscape Seelster (Roger Mayotte) came on for third.
