Dirt Track Momma Sets EPR Mares Record
Dirt Track Momma destroyed Exhibition Park Raceway's track record for aged pacing mares with a dazzling 1:55.3 victory on Saturday afternoon.
Assigned the outside post six in the $1,300 eighth race, Dirt Track Momma fired to the lead and carved out fractions of :28.2, :57.2 and 1:26.3 en route to the 1:55.3 triumph. The winning margin was eight and three-quarter lengths with Putnams Glory coming in second and Dance Hanover finishing back in third.
Dale Spence drove the record-setter for owner and trainer Jonah Moase of Cornall, P.E.I. -- the same connections who teamed up with Big League to establish an all-age track record of 1:53.4 this summer.
Dirt Track Momma paid $2.70 to win as the race favourite.
The E Dees Cam-Gushing Grace mare has won 17 times in 36 starts during her five-year-old campaign while more than doubling her career bankroll to $80,211.
The former record for aged pacing mares was 1:56.2, established by Grace And Harv in 2010.
