John Holmes Passes

Trot Insider has learned that longtime horseman John Holmes of Brantford, Ont. passed away surrounded by family during the evening hours of Sunday, October 13 at Brantford General Hospital at the age of 83.

Holmes, who had lived with heart problems in recent years, is survived by his five children (son David and daughters Susan, Maxine, Donna and Yvonne) and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Trot Insider has learned that a small family ceremony will be conducted, but there will not be visitation or a public funeral.

Holmes, who was best known for the success he found with trotting mare Lady B Worthy 7,1:58.1s ($153,283), always kept a presence around the farm and still had a couple of hobby horses until the time of his passing.
