Win Missy B Ties Record In 'Crown' Prep
In a sharp tune-up for Saturday’s Breeders Crown Mares Trot, Win Missy B matched The Meadows track record of 1:53.2 in capturing Wednesday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Preferred, but she had to work hard late to do it.
Following a sizzling :26.4 first quarter, Win Missy B opened a daylight lead before the pocket-sitting Victory Is Coming rallied in the lane. Win Missy B responded to Dick Stillings’ urging and downed Victory Is Coming by a nose, with Trotslikethewind third. The time matched the mark for four-year-old mares established last year by Firstclassprincess.
A career earner of nearly $1.6 million, Win Missy B struggled for most of 2013, but has put together three straight victories.
Rich Gillock trains the daughter of Conway Hall-Winning Missbrenda for owner/breeder Bob Key.
When she wheels back in three days, Win Missy B will leave from post five in the second elimination for the Mares Trot at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Brett Miller drove four winners on the 15-race card while Stillings and Gillock each fashioned a triple.
