Starsel Shines In Dover Debut
Starsel scored a convincing 1:54.3 victory in the $26,000 Open Trot on a cold and windy Tuesday evening at Dover Downs, while Stunt Man Hall won the $18,000 sub-feature.
In his first start since leaving Ontario, Starsel went right to the front and was never tested en route to a two-length victory in the week's top trot. Daryl Bier trains, drives and co-owns the Angus Hall – Super Sally gelding with Glen Del Russo.
It was the six-year-old's first start since mid-November. Maxter, with Tony Morgan driving, finished a strong second while Letmetellusumthin and Eddie Davis Jr. came on for third.
In similar style, Tony Morgan steered Stunt Man Hall to a 1:57 triumph in the $18,000 sub-feature trot. It was the second win in a row for the Conway Hall – Street Walk five-year-old owned by Wayne Chrebet, John Zucchino and Kevin McDermott.
Kennywood (Jim Morand) roared from far back to within a half-length of the winner and finish second. Veteran Breeze Hill Will (Corey Callahan) was the show horse.
