Junebugs Baby Repeats At Inverness
Fraser Turnbull's prized homebred pacer Junebugs Baby earned back-to-back open length victories at Inverness Raceway winning Sunday's $3,750 Invitational.
With the inside post advantage, heavy favourite Junebugs Baby grabbed the lead and never looked back as he rebuffed early challengers Lils Destiny and John Hawco and drew off to win by four lengths in 1:59.2 with Greg Sparling aboard. Art I Special and Redmond Doucet followed along for second-place honours for the second straight week while J N J, driven by Bruce McGean, rounded out the top three finishers over eight lengths behind.
The four-year-old son of Western Paradise is bred, trained and co-owned by Turnbull. John Turnbull Jr. also shares ownership.
Junebugs Baby has earned five victories this year to give him 19 wins lifetime and push his career bankroll to nearly $70,000.
Ten-year-old pacer Cant Be Caught reached a special career milestone earlier on the card as earned his 50th career win. The son of Northern Luck notched his second win in a row, prevailing in a claiming race by two lengths in 2:01.3 for driver John Gerard Kennedy and owner/trainer Donald Allan Kennedy of Frankville, N.S.
