Custom Fit Tops Day 1 In Lexington
The first of five 2013 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale sessions took place Tuesday night at the Fasig-Tipton Sale Pavilion in Lexington, Kentucky with Custom Fit garnering the highest bid of the day at $475,000.
Custom Fit, who sold as Hip 80, was acquired by Jimmy Takter of East Windsor, New Jersey. The Cantab Hall-Gala Dream colt is the full brother to the sensational performers Pastor Stephen (1:52.4 - $1,058,188) and Father Patrick (1:53.4 - $489,895).
Mr Lucky Luke, a colt from the first crop of Lucky Chucky out of the mare Graceful Touch, was purchased for $450,000 John Cancelliere of Bloomfield, New Jersey. The bay, who sold as Hip 57, is a half brother to Muscle Massive (1:51 – $1,239,138), Thatsnotmyname (1:55 - $340,730) and Muscle Mass (1:53.4 - $229,000).
Madrid, who solid as Hip 64 for $260,000, went to agent Robert Lindstrom of Boden, Sweden. The Credit Winner colt is the first foal out of the mare Starcelona – the half sister to the multiple Grand Circuit winner My Starchip (1:54.2 - $383,356).
Bright Eyes, who sold as Hip 2, was purchased by agent Robert Lindstrom of Boden, Sweden for $260,000. The daughter of Muscle Hill is the first foal out of OSS star Caught My Eye (1:55.1 - $551,274).
Marquis Volo was purchased by Jeff Gillis of Hillsburgh, Ontario for $180,000. The Credit Winner colt, who sold as Hip 38, is the second foal out of the multiple NJSS-winning mare, Margarita Momma.
Hey There Delilah, the full sister to the sport’s fastest female pacer of all time, Put On A Show (1:47.3 - $2,406,628), was purchased by Richard Young of Boca Raton, Florida for $180,000. The filly, who sold as Hip 104, is also a half sister to Showherthemoney (1:49 - $871,161).
Flirting Filly, who sold as Hip 9, went to agent Jimmy Takter of East Windsor, New Jersey for $170,000. The Broadway Hall-Flirtin My Way filly is a full sister to the Matron Stakes-winning filly Stage Show (1:53.1 - $507,577).
A total of 105 yearlings went through the sales ring, with five not meeting the reserve price. Of the 100 yearlings that did sell, the total for those yearlings was more than $8.9-million, producing an average of $89,010 -- up nearly 2 percent from the 2012 sale opener session.
The sale continues on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. featuring Hips 109 - 270.
