Apparition Romps In Colonial Series
Chris Page directed Jane Dunavant’s Apparition to a four length victory in the Good Ole USA Trotting Series Saturday afternoon at Colonial Downs.
A field of 10 competed as Director of Racing Craig Andow combined the two first leg divisions into a single one for Saturday’s second $4,500 leg. Elvis Returns and Rockin To Do were the opening weekend division winners in 1:56 and 1:55.3 respectively, while Apparition finished second to the former.
Imperial Spur got away strong from the gate Saturday and cut the opening panel in :28 while Apparition was outside surging from third. The six-year-old SJs Photo gelding got to the front shortly after and never looked back, hitting the next marks in :58.4 and 1:28.3 before crossing in 1:56.3. Elvis Returns was second and The Doctor took third. It was Apparition’s 13th lifetime score.
Ronnie Wrenn, the U.S.’s leading driver by wins, competed at Colonial Saturday and collected three wins. He scored with Bellini Martini, Plum Crazy Baby and AC Market Sharp. He will stay in town and drive on Sunday as well.
Colonial Downs hosts a 10-race card on Sunday at 1 p.m.
