'Turain' Wins Johnny Conroy Memorial
All Turain and driver Brodie MacPhee powered past the pace-setting Big League in the stretch to capture the $7,500 Johnny Conroy Memorial Pace on Sunday afternoon at Truro Raceway.
One of the co-favourites on the toteboard, Big League and driver Dale Spence took command of the field from post two and carved out fractions of :27.2, :56.1 and 1:25.1. Big League settled for second while Junebugs Baby and Todd Trites followed over four lengths behind off a pocket trip.
All Turain defeated the Milton Downey Memorial champion Big League for the second Invitational event in a row. All Turain also won the Jennie & Joe Chippin Memorial on Sept. 7 at Fredericton Raceway.
Trevor Hicken trains and co-owns the four-year-old Tell All gelding with Lee Hicken of Charlottetown. He paid $11.40 to win.
All Turain has won 11 of his 56 career starts and sports a bankroll totalling $54,604. He's earned three of those wins and $15,538 in purses this year.
